시놉시스

With the class president election in a few days, Ha-won, whose cousin is the famous idol singer Jay, promises that she will hand out Jay’s autograph to everyone if she becomes class president. Hence, the kids plan to cast all their votes to Ha-won. To make sure, Si-min calculates the number of girls and boys in class, and finds out that Ha-won will be president if all the girls vote to her. Si-min persuades the girls and they all agree to vote for Ha-won without a doubt. The kids look forward to the election day, dreaming of the idol singer’s autograph and the ice cream they would receive from the rich girl, Ha-won, as promised. But on the election day, the result surprises them all.

연출의도

Childhood dreams make our hearts flutter. There is something infinite inside them. Through these dreams, we earn the wisdom to beautifully reminisce the past, heal the scars and agonies of reality, and acquire the positive will which can change our anxiety about the future to hope. In the film, reality is far too harsh for Ye-rim. Though she is a fictitious character, I wanted to give her an opportunity to change the reality she is facing.

초등학교 소녀들의 교실 풍경과 우정 권력에 관한 드라마. 어느 날 하원(김채원)이 친구 시민(임수빈)에게 신인 아이돌 가수로 활동 중인 사촌 오빠의 싸인을 받아주자, 아이들 사이에서 난리가 난다. 이를 계기로 시민이 친구들에게 학급 반장선거에 하원을 밀어주자고 말한다. 시민의 의견에 친구들은 대체로 동의하나, 연정(권수정)은 평소에 공주님처럼 행동하고 물질로 친구들의 환심을 사려 하는 하원이 마냥 못마땅하다. 결국 반장 선거에서 하원이 떨어지자, 시민이 나서서 다른 후보를 뽑은 친구를 색출해내자고 강하게 주장하고 나선다. 이 때문에 연정은 자신의 잘못이 드러나게 될 까봐 노심초사하게 되고 급기야 별 잘못도 없는 예림(유서진)에게 화를 내고 나쁜 상황을 만들어 친구들로부터 왕따를 당할 위기에 빠뜨린다. 김우현 감독의 <고백>은 서로를 자신의 베프라고 말하며 몰려다니는 4-5명의 소녀들이 주인공이다. 이들이 서로 죽고는 못 살 정도로 친한 애정을 과시하다가 사소한 이익이나 자존심에 문제가 생겼을 때 와장창 깨지고 마는 유리 같은 심성이 빚어내는 교실 풍경은 흡사 약육강식의 논리만 존재하는 밀림을 보는 듯 아주 잔인하다. 링컨의 이야기를 인용하며 진실한 고백이란 것이 세상에 존재하는지, 존재해도 괜찮은지를 고민하는 연정과 수진의 대화가 잔망스럽다. 누군가의 대사로 직접 등장하는 “진실한 고백이야말로 가장 현명하게 용서를 구하는 방법”이라는 것을 섬세하게 보여주는 영화다. 친구들을 연기하는 권수정, 황윤정, 김채원, 임수빈, 유서진의 꾸밈 없는 연기는 윤가은 감독의 <우리들>을 자연스럽게 떠오르게 만든다.(김현수, 영화저널리스트)
