시놉시스

경연대회에서 1등상을 받지 못한 소녀는 한껏 우울해 있다. 소녀를 달래주고 싶지만, 그런 방면으로는 영 소질이 없는 나이든 스승. 두 사람은 늘 하던 대로 소리 연습을 위해 초겨울 산을 오르고, 스승의 가르침에 조금씩 제 실력을 보여주던 소녀 앞에 놀라운 일이 벌어지는데… 소리 연습을 위해 산행에 나선, 고집불통 스승과 철부지 소녀 제자, 각각 자신만의 방법으로 서로를 위로하고, 배려하면서 특별한 하루를 보내게 된다.
The girl is depressed not to win the first prize at the contest. The old master wants to cheer her up, but he’s so clumsy at warm comforting. Two of them go to the mountain for the training as they always do, and the girl gets to experience some unbelievable things while she blossoms her potential under his guidance... A stubborn master and his young pupil head to the mountain for practicing; A special daytrip consoling and cheering up one another in their own way.

연출의도

우리는 이번 기회에 옛 명창의 소리를 몇 대목 들어보았다. 그 중에서도 1930년대에 녹음된 이동백 명창의 ‘새타령’은 우리를 단박에 사로잡았다. 자연에 가까웠던 옛사람의 정취가 그대로 살아있는 소리이다. 이제 이런 소리를 자주 접하고 직접 듣기 어려워 안타깝고 씁쓸하다. 그래서 또 옛 명창의 소리를 따라 배우려는 요즘 소년 소녀의 노력이 그만큼 귀엽고 반갑다. 이 상반되는 감정을 영화에 등장하는 노년의 스승과 어린 제자가 전해준다. 이동백 명창이 새타령을 하면, 새들이 화답했다는 ‘전설은 그저 과장일까?’ <청출어람>에 사용된 이동백의 육성을 들어보면 답은 바로 나온다. ‘자연으로 가는 길’에 이 소리만한 것이 또 있을까. 워낙 짧은 영화라 지름길을 택하긴 했지만 즐감.
We listened to several songs sung by the masters of Pansori (Korea’s traditional singing folk art) while preparing this movie. Among those songs, ´Saetaryung’ by Master LEE Dong-baek instantly mesmerized us. It was a song that made us feel again the taste of the generation before us who were so close to the nature. It’s regretful and event bitter that we cannot listen to the songs like this often anymore. But at the same time, it also makes the younger generation’s efforts to learn after the old master seem even dearer and more adorable. It’s this contradictory feeling that we would like to deliver through the old master and his young pupil in the movie. Is it only an exaggerated legend that the birds sang back when the Master LEE was singing Saetaryung? You can find the answer yourself when you listen to his voice in DAY TRIP. What other song could be more perfect to accompany you on ´the road to the nature´? We took a short cut as this is a short film, but hope you can still enjoy it as it is.
