시놉시스

물에 사는 소녀의 물을 향한 끝없는 갈망을 표현하고 있다.
This is a story about a girl who lives in an ocean with endless desires of water.

연출의도

뉴욕 스쿨오브 비주얼아트에서 공부할 때, 아버지가 심장문제로 돌아가셨다. 그의 갑작스런 죽음은 더 좋은 삶을 살기 위한 내 끝없는 욕구로부터 깨워주었다. 행복은 어디에 있는 가? 비록 행복이 내 마음속에 있고 내가 삶을 어떻게 보느냐에 따라 달라질 수 있다는 것을 깨달았지만, 이 영화의 로봇 캐릭터 처럼 물을 더 원하는 그런 나의 끝없는 욕구로부터 벗어날 수 없었다. 그렇기 때문에 이 로봇은 자신이 물속에 산다는 것을 깨닫지 못한다. 이 애니매이션 <미라지>는 끝없는 욕구의 수집가인 내 삶에 관한 이야기이다.
While I was studying at School of Visual Arts in New York, my father in Korea was passed away by heart failure. His sudden death awakes me from my endless desire to get better life. Where is happiness? Although I realize happiness could be in my mind depended on how I see my life, I could not get away from my endless desire as my robot character always wants more water. That is reason why he could not recognize that he was living already in water. My animation MIRAGE is a story about my life as a collector having endless desires.
