시놉시스

세계유일의 분단국가 대한민국. 서해 최북단 백령도에서 탈영사고가 발생하고 제대 5일 남은 말년병장과 첫 휴가를 다녀온 일병은 한 조가 되어 탈영병 수색에 나선다. 그러나 말년 병장이 소주를 마시고 잠들어 버린 사이 일병은 탈영병을 발견하고 혼자서 쫓기 시작한다. 다른 조에 의해 잠에서 깬 말년 병장은 일병이 휴가 가서 실연 당했음을 전해 듣고, 혹시 일병마저 탈영하지 않았나를 걱정하며 책임을 면하기 위해 자해를 한다.
Baek-ryung islands is the northernmost island in the west sea of Korean peninsular which is the only divided country in the world. On this island, a sergeant who has only 5 days left from discharge, and a private, who has just joined the Marin make a team to search for a deserter. However, the sergeant takes a nap after drinking and the private who has left alone looks for the deserter. After the sergeant wakes up by other team, he is told that the private broke up with his girlfriend during his vacation, and the sergeant concerns a possibility of his deserting from barracks. So the sergeant makes self injury to be acquitted from his responsibility.

연출의도

시스템의 모순. 그리고 그 모순된 시스템의 유지와 존속을 위해 양산되는 희생양들...... 이러한 부조리 속에서 다치지 않길 바라는 나약한 인간의 본성들을 들여다보고 싶다.
How ironic!! A social system which is supposed to secure the existence of mankind makes mankind victimized for its own subsistence. And the human being pretends not to know it and let it be.
