시놉시스

10살 소녀 기정이에게 엄마가 떠난 빈자리는 너무 크다. 무슨 일이 있어도 울지 말고 동생을 보살피라는 엄마의 말을 지키려 애써보지만, 길 건너 반듯한 아파트 촌의 학교에 가야 하는 건 재개발지역의 남루한 그들의 집에 있는 것 보다 더 끔찍한 일이다.
Kijong, a young girl living in a redevelopment area in the heart of Seoul, must learn to care for herself and the younger brother after their mother abandons them.

연출의도

벌써 15년 전입니다. 도시개발의 광풍이 시작되던 대치동 어딘가의 비닐하우스 철거촌. 조그만 체구의 아이가 책 보다는 생활의 무게가 가득 실린 책가방을 메고 길 건너 높이 솟은 아파트 단지의 학교로 향하던 모습. 아마도 자신의 집이 있었을 곳에 세워진 휘황찬란한 아파트 단지 속으로 발걸음을 옮기는 그 아이의 무거운 마음이 오랫동안 제 마음에 남아 이 영화로 이끈 것 같습니다.
Everything started from one girl I saw on the center of redevelopment area in the city of Seoul 15 years ago. She headed for the school in the luxurious APT complex just across the street of her torn-down redevelopment area. Her backpack seemed like it was filled with her heavy burden of life rather than with her textbooks. This could be my way of apology for the children who couldn’t afford to have their childhood in the crazy speed of development-driven city life.
