시놉시스

다섯 개의 다른 이야기들이 짧막하게 90초 동안 소개되고 있다. 각각의 이야기는 한 남자가 살아 있었을 때의 이야기를 바탕으로 하고 있다. 불교의 윤회사상을 바탕으로, 이 영화는 한 죽음이 국제결혼을 한 가정에 어떻게 다뤄지고 있는 지를 살짝 엿보게 해 준다. 다시 재생하는 텍스트를 통해 이 영화는 시네마적 열반을 보여주려 했다. (추신: 왈도를 주의하라)
Five different stories comprise a single ninety second vignette; each tale illuminating an element of the deceased's life during his wake. A meditation on the Buddhist notion of reincarnation, "5x90: the Wake" is a sly and clever look at an interracial family coping with a death in the family. Through its hyper-self-reflexive text, this film endeavours to achieve cinematic nirvana. (P.S. Watch out for Waldo.)

연출의도

나는 항상 내 장례식은 어떨지에 대해 알고 싶었다. 이 영화는 큰 스크린 화면에서 보기위해 만들어 진 것이다. 각각의 90초의 짧은 이야기들이 짧은 소개 음악과 함께 반복되고 있다. 연출자는 자신의 이름을 죽은 사람의 이름으로 사용한다. 한 순간 그 케릭터는 죽었지만 다시 태어 나는 것이다.
I wanted to know what it would be like to see my own funeral.
This piece is meant to be experienced on a big screen, theatrical venue.
The filmmaker uses his own name for the deceased. In an instant, the character is dead and then reborn again.
