시놉시스

주인공이 그의 아내를 봤을 때 그는 마지막임을 느꼈다. 가족들이 그의 죽음에 대해 체념하지 않으려고 노력할 때 주인공은 더 이상 암으로 죽어간다는 것이 불안하거나 두렵지 않았다. 결국 주인공은 평화롭게 마지막을 맞이했다. 그의 죽음 앞에 누구도 좌절하거나 슬퍼하지 않을 수 있게 한 가족들간의 사랑과 배려가 돋보인다.
When Andrzej looks at his wife Jeanne, he knows that it is for the last time. While Jeanne, along with her daughter and granddaughter struggle to come to terms with unfolding events, Andrzej is no longer perturbed by his asbestos related cancer; when his time comes, Andrzej dies in peace. In the process of marking his death with acts of love and tenderness, the women too achieve their own kind of appeasement.

연출의도

나는 영화를 위해 직접 시나리오를 썼고 의사가 진찰했던 환자 "석면으로 인해 고통을 받던 환자가 그의 가족들에게 돌아가 18개월의 여생을 보냈다"가 생각났다. <늦었어, 너무 늦었어>는 사랑으로 가득한 가정 속에서 죽음을 맞이하는 한 개인의 마지막 순간을 따뜻하게 그리고 있다.
Writing the scenario for my film, I was reminded of a doctor’s advice to a patient diagnosed with an asbestos related illness to ‘go home to his family to enjoy his remaining 18 months of life.’ ‘Late, Too Late’ warmly depicts the final hours of one such individual – a grandfather – and the love and affection that circulates around the home he shares with 3 generations of women.
